A.) First, let me begin by answering two very important questions.
1. What to wear and
2. What to do before, during and after the course.
B.) Second, I will explain the role of some Latin bop rnileang tools. This Salsa dance kit will contribute a great deal to your learning. It will, in short time, teach you to move the body to Latin rhythms. It will train your ear to music. In essence, This is one of the three things you need to develop to be a good dancer.
C.) Finally, I will discuss the importance of visual aide and ear training.
1. What should you wear?
You should wear comfortable shoes, relax dress, loose-fitting slacks or shirt. If you feel comfortable, you can move your body in any direction. You do not have to think about being stop by what you are wearing. You will be free to concentrate on the learning. Once, you have gained the knowledge of how to dance. You can wear just about anything. However, at first, dress in the most comfortable garb you can. Put on the softest pair of shoes you have.
2. What should you do before, during and after the course?
Before
You should review you steps previously learned. If it is your first class, then just relax. Hear what the instructor has to say. Discover who the tutor is. Learn about him or her. What can he or she does for you as an instructor? Last, but not least, find out the course out line and the goals to reach.
During
Try to learn the moves and figures. Ask questions if needed. The instructor will be flattered. He or she will also appreciate your interest. Your questions might help others, as well.
After
Visualize the moves. Find a partner to practise if you do not have one. Practice makes perfect! Practise the steps. If you do not understand or cannot do them, Check your DVD or leave them for the next class. Ask the teacher.
3. What tools should you use to learn fast, easily and effectively?
Amongst the most effective dance tools that there exist, I strongly recommend:
a.) Latin Dance DVD (Visual aide, you need to review what you have learned.)
It contains all the steps, movements and artistic figures you will learn during the course.
b.) Ear training music CD (You need to training your ears.)
This CD contains salsa songs. The rhythm of song is counted so that you can step to the music.
Your success will depend upon the tools you use to learn. These tools, not only, will give you an edge but also complement your training. It is add on to the advices and recommendations from the teacher.
What you should know about visual aide and ear training !
Visual aide
Time, money and effort will be wasted because lack of planning and lack of the proper dance tools. Most of salsa students who take a dance lesson often forget. As soon as the walk out the class, they have forgotten just about everything. Well, if you have a DVD with all the steps, you will not forget anything. it would be as if you had the teacher at home at your disposal anytime of the days and night. You can practise, whenever, you feel like it. Better yet! you could: Slow down it. Pause it as long as needed, Rewind as many time as desired. Believe me! This way, your learning will be:
1. More effective,
2. Longer lasting
3. Much easier and
4. Amazingly faster.
Ear training
A common mistake that students make is the lack of music listening. One must listen to music. This accustoms the ear to that particular kind of rhythm one is learning. In other words, ear training is a must.
In fact, you cannot dance the rhythms if you cannot hear them. Without music, there is no dancing. Plain and simple!
In conclusion, to dance well, one must learn:
1- the steps,
2- the leading or following the partner,
3- movements of the body to the particular rhythm one is studying,
4- to train the ear to recognize the rhythm he or she is dancing.
It is quite a task. Isn’t it? It is a life time investment. But, the rewards are great. They last a life time.
